Day 5: Farewell dream life...back to reality...boo.

We woke up our last morning, still totally stuffed from the bazillion hush puppies we ate the night before, and got ready to hit the North Carolina highway one last time.  I got us a little lost, but that was about normal - it happened many times on this vacation.

On our way to the teeny-weeny airport in Jacksonville...

we found out we'd be missing this:

yes.  that sign truly says MULLET FESTIVAL.

Looks like we made our trip just one month too soon!

If you thought we had a lot of churches on our corners, you've got to go to the South.

You will be amazed!

Lots of them were super cute and charming...I waited too long, so I had to settle for a picture of the ugliest one we saw in our entire 5 days.  Sorry.

The car rental place told us to bring the car back with a gas tank as empty as possible.

Richard's goal was to have to push the car into the parking lot.  We came pretty darn close!

When we were "almost" to the airport, we put just one dollar (ONE DOLLAR!) in the tank.

When he gets an idea in his head, you better look out!

Made a quick stop at the Waffle House...even though we weren't hungry yet.

Just sounded good, ya know?!

Putting his clothes back on after having to strip down to get through the metal detector in the airport...

Was is the gum wrapper in his front pocket?  the buttons on his shirt?  what could it possibly be?!

oh, right...a cell phone has metal in it...oops.

Tricky Dick.

There were about 900 small children on this flight...don't we look excited?

Layover in Atlanta...where we stocked up on our pretzel m&m's for the last flight of the trip.

Catching Fire while Richard slept.

I can't sleep on planes at all!

Just reminiscing about all of our favorite parts about the trip, and looking forward to the day when we'll say...

Hey, remember that time we went to North Carolina?

That was a good one.

Thanks for looking back on one of the best weeks of my life with me!
